Salary: $70,821 – $114,399 Starting annual salary DOQ. Grade 11/12/13 on the NWIFC’s current pay scale.

Position Overview: NWIFC is seeking candidates for the full-time, exempt role of Policy Analyst, Forest and Agriculture Practices. This position is integral to the Environmental Protection team and will be responsible for the direct and indirect supervision of 5 staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

● Facilitate and support tribal homeland and treaty resource protection priorities as affected by activities in the forested and agricultural landscapes.

● Coordinate and engage tribal implementation of Timber-Fish-Wildlife (TFW) Agreement and the Forest and Fish Report (FFR) and related processes. Assist in the development and implementation of a tribal work agenda designed to address tribal issues and priorities to TFW/FFR.

● Establish and maintain statewide communication supporting tribal participation in TFW and FFR implementation activities.

● Coordinate and provide staff support to the Tribal Forest and Fish (FFR) Policy Workgroup.

● Serve as Western WA Tribes tribal representation on FFR Policy Committee, communicate issues to tribes, coordinating response and participation.

● Provide overall policy coordination and communication regarding state, federal and private forest management and agricultural land use issues as they effect tribal resources and recovery goals.

● Provide policy coordination and communication on TFW/FFR and agricultural issues with federal and state agencies.

Required Qualifications:

● Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, legal or related field and seven years of recent work experience with regional and tribal habitat protection programs.

● (or) Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, legal or related field and eight years of recent work experience with regional and tribal habitat protection programs.

● (or) an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

● One or more years of supervisorial experience.

● Detailed knowledge of Western WA Tribe’s resource management issues

● Excellent communication, leadership, analytical and writing skills.

● The ability to demonstrate the skills and experience important for policy and strategic development of intergovernmental communication, meeting facilitation and coordination of communicating current and impending issues.
