The Swinomish and Upper Skagit tribes are having a limited fishery on Skagit River spring chinook. Each tribe is fishing for three 24-hour openings.
“My dad will be 77 years old this year, and he’s still hand-pulling nets,” said fisherman and Swinomish Chairman Brian Cladoosby, referring to his father, Mike. “He’s still exercising his treaty rights.”
