Sponsor the
2024 Native Youth Salmon Summit

The Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission, Salmon Defense, and member tribes are organizing a Native Youth Salmon Summit this fall to inspire youth to pursue a career in natural resources and are looking for funding to support this effort.

We will host up to 100 high-school-aged Native youth on the Tulalip Tribes’ reservation in mid-October 2024 for a two-day summit. The youth will learn more about their treaty rights, the importance of the Boldt decision, and what kinds of careers are available in tribal natural resources through a variety of hands-on activities and lectures. We also will have booths available for educational and environmental organizations to share their resources with students.

The event was created out of a workforce development group that includes the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, tribal education professionals, and environmental organizations. The group has turned into an excellent source of information exchange between tribes and organizations that support tribal education in natural resources.

We’re seeking your support for the event, which has a budget of $29,212 to cover five meals, 15-20 speakers, gifts, and accommodations for 100 students and 50 supporting staff/chaperones. We’re hoping to raise these funds by Friday, June 28, 2024.

Sponsors will be recognized throughout the event and will have their logo printed on the t-shirt provided to students and staff at the event.

We appreciate your consideration and all the work you do to protect and restore our natural resources while helping expand education for tribal youth.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
