Fish Habitat Section Supervisor – Quinault Indian Nation

The Fish Habitat Section Supervisor manages professional staff in QDNR’s Fish Habitat Section whose goal is to protect treaty fish resources on the Quinault Reservation and within the Quinault Usual and Accustomed area (U&A). This position provides technical expertise to the QIN and all employees therein concerning fish habitat and supports staff that implement restoration projects. This position will train Fish Habitat Biologists and Technicians as needed in fish passage methodology, fish habitat identification and assessment, and restoration techniques. Work includes participating in the implementation of the QIN Forest Management Plan and Forest Practice Regulations, supporting staff that issue permits for hydraulic projects as required by QIN laws and policies, and monitoring compliance with said permits and issue violations if necessary. The Fish Habitat Section Supervisor will work closely with professional staff to monitor off-reservation treaty resource impacts. They will need to have good judgement in determining when projects may harm natural resources, the ability to communicate those impacts to Tribal leaders and supervisors and have skills in conflict resolution and problem solving.
