Responsible for assisting the Marine Fish Program Manager and the Marine Fishery Biologist in daily tasks while learning how the Suquamish Marine Fish Program operates within the usual and accustomed fishing areas of the Suquamish Tribe. The Program Manager provides biological analysis and management recommendations for marine fish fisheries. This requires detailed knowledge of present and historic fisheries that interact with Suquamish interests; including, tracking emerging issues and attending frequent meetings. The Program Manager also oversees personnel and manages the budget for the Marine Fish Program, including the Suquamish Hatchery. The Fishery Biologist performs the fieldwork of fishery monitoring and sampling, escapement monitoring, smolt out-migration traps; and office work including data entry, issuing fishery regulations, catch monitoring, and producing preseason abundance forecasts.
